Museum hours on Canada Day: 12pm – 5pm

Once again, the Fredericton Region Museum will be open on Canada Day this year. We’re offering some awesome activities between noon and 5pm, in addition to our usual exhibits.

If you’re wondering “Why visit a museum on Canada Day?”, here are 5 great reasons:

  • Children’s crafts – There will be a fun crafting activity (run by our crafts master Elspeth!), suitable for children of all ages. So while the kids are making beautiful red-and-white bracelets, you can take a few spare moments to view the museum.
  • Hannah’s Tea Place – The Fredericton Region Museum welcomes back its finest hostess, Spencer Murgatroyd, as she portrays Hannah Ingraham for another summer. She will be serving iced or hot tea and Snickerdoodles for $2 on the balcony, where patrons may relax while watching events unfold in Officer’s Square below. Be it for refreshments, relaxation, or both, Hannah’s Tea Place is the perfect place to be during Canada Day festivities.
  • Shadow Puppet Theatre – The opening of the Museum’s Artist-In-Residence exhibit will happen on Canada Day, and it’s the perfect opportunity to learn about the Fredericton Region’s history in a fun and innovative way. Miguelina Izaguirre will be using the art of shadow puppetry to teach the public about some of Fredericton’s most famous events and characters. Join us to experience art, and history, in a new way.
  • Location, Location, Location! – Being next to Officers’ Square makes the museum a convenient spot to visit (really anytime, but especially on Canada Day). Too hot? We’ve got shade. Too rainy? It’s dry in the museum. Can’t see the entertainment? We have a balcony.
  • Canada Day is all about history – New Brunswick history is Canadian history. Why not celebrate the country’s 146th birthday with a look back at the Fredericton Region’s place in the national story?

Hope to see you on Canada Day! Don’t forget to join the Facebook event: https://www.facebook.com/events/536669713061073/
