The Orientation Room, located immediately to the right of the entry-way door, is intended to welcome its many visitors to the wealth of heritage and history in the greater Fredericton region.

This is accomplished by the use of exhibit panels with visual aids and text, display cases containing important early area artefacts, and a twenty minute DVD film (French and English). The focus is on interpreting our history in an exciting, interactive and engaging manner so that viewers will gain a keener awareness of our collective past.

The film spans four centuries of the area’s dramatic history, with a special emphasis on the Aboriginal, Acadian and Loyalist inhabitants. It includes dramatic vignettes, recreations, personal narratives, maps and early paintings of the area as well as music.

This gallery also features a small exhibit on World War II pilot Gordon Mosher.  Mosher enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1940.  He was sent to England where he was trained in sub hunting, coastal command bombing, and torpedo bombing. His first combat experience was in North Africa. His unit participated in attacks on Axis subs and shipping in the Mediterranean in support of Montgomery’s Eighth Army campaign in North Africa. Following Rommel’s defeat, Mosher was assigned to the Royal Air Force Squadron 203 and sent to India to support Montbattan’s Burma campaign against the Japanese.  The exhibit features several of Mosher’s personal items as well as other World War II artefacts.
